National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) has announced their endorsement of Santa Ana City Councilwoman Jessie Lopez for California State Assembly, District 68, in the 2026 election.

The National Union of Healthcare Workers is a member-led movement for quality patient care and a stronger voice in the workplace. They advocate for:

  • HIGHER STANDARDS: NUHW members have set new standards in compensation, job protections, and safe staffing.
  • MENTAL HEALTH PARITY: They are the only healthcare union that makes mental health parity a core mission.
  • HEALTHCARE FOR ALL: They help lead a coalition that’s committed to achieving guaranteed healthcare for all.

In announcing their endorsement Sal Roselli, President Emeritus of NUHW, said:

"Jessie Lopez is a proven labor champion and a stalwart advocate for patient care. She has stood by us at the picketline as our members fought for better access to mental health services, and we look forward to fighting beside her in Sacramento to pass Medicare for All in California. We support Jessie because we believe healthcare workers and patients deserve a system that works for us."

—Sal Roselli, President Emeritus, National Union of Healthcare Workers

"I've stood shoulder-to-shoulder with NUHW members on the picket line, fighting for better working conditions for mental health workers and demanding the quality care every patient deserves. As one of the fiercest advocates for Medicare for All, I will never stop fighting for a healthcare system that puts people over profits.."

About Jessie Lopez

Born and raised in Santa Ana, Jessie Lopez is the proud daughter of immigrants who came to the United States seeking safety and opportunity. Growing up in a single-parent household, Jessie saw firsthand the sacrifices her mother made to provide for their family. As a high school student, Jessie graduated from her local public school district and Project Self, a program that launched her into work with law firms where she quickly learned the value of delivering results and working hard. Despite facing housing and food insecurity while holding down two jobs to put herself through college, Jessie persevered and became the first in her family to graduate.

Jessie stepped up to run for City Council because she saw a lack of leadership fighting for the best interests of Santa Ana’s working families. Elected to represent Ward 3 in 2020 and re-elected in 2024, Jessie has delivered real results—leading efforts to expand affordable housing, address homelessness, protect public land, and improve water quality.

Now, Jessie is running for State Assembly to be a voice for working families across California. She knows firsthand the struggles of affording rent, earning a fair wage, and working two jobs to make ends meet.

Your support can help elect local leaders who will fight for a California that puts care over corporate profits.
